'Ghost Shadow' (The Bone Island Trilogy #1) By: Heather Graham

"There are those who walk among us who are no longer alive, but not yet crossed over. They seek retribution…vengeance…to warn. Among the living, few intuit their presence.
Katie O'Hara is one who can."

Ghost shadow is the first book in the trilogy 'The Bone Island'. Heather Graham is New York Times and USA Today best selling author. She has written over one hundred novels and novellas including category, suspense, historical romance, vampire fiction, time travel, occult and Christmas family fare. She is pleased to have been published in approximately twenty languages. The books I read are mostly suspense. Of course. I own roughly around ten books by the author. I would go check my bookshelf but I'm nice and cozy in my bed writing this post. Anyways back to the author and her books. She has many books out there and a lot of them being trilogy's. Now remember what I said in my last post that I usually have bad luck with books and end up reading the middle book of a trilogy. Yea, well I did exactly that. Not knowing it was part of a trilogy I read the middle book. Now maybe if I was more alert I could have noticed that at the bottom of the book its printed 'The Bone Island Trilogy', but silly ol' me didn't bother to really pay attention to the cover. Now I'm not new to Heather Grahams books. See I was an on and off again book worm. There will be times that I would read and read and then suddenly stop. Then time passes by and I would start again. Even though I would at times stop reading books for a while I can say that no matter what I really loved reading. I honestly enjoy it and it might be because I myself would write stories. Never finished them but I saw it as a hobby, but that's another story for another time. Like I was saying I really love reading. So many years ago maybe five or six I was into books again. My husband and I would go to our local library and check out books. So that was the time I discovered the author. I read 'The Flynn Brothers Trilogy' and loved it! I really enjoyed each book. I loved Heather Grahams trilogy so much that when I got back into reading again roughly five-six months ago I remembered those books and remembered only her last name being that it had been awhile that I've read. I told my husband, "Babe help me find books by this one author I really liked back then. The last name is Graham." Obviously I found her and started buying her books. Now I'm a Stephen King fan! He's my favorite author, but Heather Graham comes close. I really enjoy reading her books! They never fail to entertain me.

So lets talk a little of what the first book is about, basically it involves the dead and the living. Katie O'Hara is settled on buying the Beckett Museum. Not caring for the crime that was committed there. David Beckett the second owner of the Museum and the number one suspect for the murder of his fiancĂ© refuses to sell the property. David's fiancĂ© was murdered and was staged in one of the museum's exhibits to make her look like one of the wax figures. Many believe that it was David who committed the crime. Katie herself didn't know whether he was guilty or not. Especially since her own brother Sean O'Hara who happened to be David's best friend was doubtful of his friends innocence. But it still doesn't keep Katie from taking a liking to the guy. But as more bodies start to pile up a spectral friend of Katie's becomes more and more insistent in warning her about danger that may be surrounding her. Is the friend referring to David Beckett and could he be responsible for more than just one killing? Read to find out!

I truly recommend the book if you're into ghosts and of course suspense. It keeps you wondering who is the killer, David Beckett or someone else, and who's next on the killers list. So just give the book a try and let me know if you enjoyed it just as much as I did. Till next time book nerds!

'The Killing Song' By: P.J. Parrish

"Matt Owens is a Pulitzer Prize–nominated journalist, but at thirty-five, he’s adrift, more inclined to hit the bottle alone than the Miami Beach club scene. But when his beloved younger sister Mandy comes to visit, Matt wants to show her a new world. It’s the trip of her dreams, but the nightmare begins when Mandy disappears from a crowded dance floor."

The killing song. P.J. Parrish did an extraordinary job, I believe. Now did you know the author is actually two sisters? Kristy Monte and Kelly Nichols. If you're interested in knowing how they came up with name P.J. Parrish you can head on over to their website click the link FAQs, and read up on how they came up with their pen name. Ill post the link below.

Like many thriller books this one as well consists of a several murders. It starts off with Mandy Owens visiting her brother, Matt Owens, in Miami. Its the trip of her dreams and her brother just wants to show her a good time, but things turn to the worst when Mandy disappears from a crowded dance floor. When her life-less body is found her brother is devastated and beats himself up for not keeping an eye on her the whole time they were in the club. Devastated with grief and guilt , Matt is on a mission to find his sister's killer using the only clue he has. A grisly rock song that was downloaded onto her iPod. The musical clues lead him to different places such as an abandoned London rock club to a crumbling Scottish castle and finally to the ancient catacombs below Paris. He gets help in finding the serial killer from a dedicated French detective -- Eve Bellamont. She as well has had a five-year obsession to find the phantom killer. Together they decipher the clues the killer has left with each of his victims in hopes to stop him before he kills again. While I was reading the book the main question I kept asking myself was what was the reason behind this madman's killings, and like many it always starts at home. So overall it was a pretty good mystery book. keeps you on your toes about what each characters fate will be.

'Dead Man's Song' By: Jonathan Manberry

"Once an idyllic Pennsylvania, Pine Deep awoke one morning to find itself bathed in a massive bloodletting. Twice in thirty years the townsfolk have endured the savage hungers of a murderous madman... but if the residents think the death of serial killer Karl Ruger put an end to the carnage, they're dead wrong."

Dead Man's song is the middle book of a trilogy by Jonathan Maberry. First book is called "Ghost Road Blues" and the third book is called "Bad Moon Rising". I have very bad luck with books at times. I seem to always end up reading the middle book of a trilogy not even knowing it belongs to a trilogy. Have that happen to me already three times. Any who I haven't read the other two cause well I haven't bought them. Although this book was somewhat interesting. I still need to get the other two to at least know how the story started before the one I read and how it ends. Now lets focus on the one I did read. I will say it was an ok read. It did have me wanting to know what was going to happen to certain characters of the book and how it was going to end. The books blurb says that there's a monstrous evil terrorizing the citizens of Pine Deep. Throughout the book the author doesn't right away tell you what kind of monstrous evil is terrorizing the town. I, myself was wondering if it was zombies, werewolves, vampires, or even the devil himself, but towards the end he makes it clear with what were dealing with. Like I said it was an ok book to read, and the reason why is because I was really disappointed with the authors literary work. The book had too many errors. I myself might have errors in my posts but then again im an amateur. But this book had so many and I mean so many errors I ended up making a joke to my husband saying the author should fire his editor. Now I don't know if it was just my copy that had the errors which I really doubt, but that's the main reason why I would give this book a bad review. Even though I was disappointed in how the book was written I still have to get the other two books. Hopefully those don't have as much errors as this one.

With that being said lets talk a little about what happens in the book. A mini summary. Like I wrote above the book is about some evil brute mutilating people beyond description. People start wondering how it could be possible that people are dying in such way if Karl Ruger is dead. So police start to investigate and wonder that maybe it could be one of Rugers goons not even knowing that there are even towns people involved in the chaos. But once they each start to realize what they might be up against they start to question their sanity.

I dont want to spoil it for you all so ill just leave it at that. Now like i said i was disappointed with the book in the sense of how it was written but i still have to find out what happens. So you best believe im going to buy the other two books. So im not sure if any of you would still want to get this book but it in all fairness it wasn't that bad. Well thats all i have to say on this book till next time book nerds!!

'Never Die Alone' By: Lisa Jackson

"It Should be the best day of their lives. Too bad they never get to see it. On the cusp of their twenty-first birthday, he strikes. His victims are always twins, their ritualistic murders planned in exquisite detail, down to the moment when they breathe their last together..."

Lisa Jackson is the number-one New York Times bestselling author of more than 85 novels. With over thirty bestsellers to her name, Lisa Jackson is a master of taking readers to the edge of sanity and back in novels that reign with dangerous secrets and deadly passions. Amongst all those novels her latest novel 'Never Die Alone' is the first book I own by the author. The book was given to me actually as a gift from my loving husband. Although this is the only book I posses from her many books I really have to say this. Lisa Jackson impressed me. I mean this book was so thrilling, compelling, cliff-hanging. Each time I would read a new chapter it felt like a mini movie was playing in my head. It felt like instead of me reading I was actually watching a movie. That's how well detailed it was that it makes it easy for the reader to play it in their mind. There were points that I would catch myself squealing from the anxiety it would give me when I would read an intense part. I would even start to snap my fingers and tell myself "omg omg omg."

Now the book is about a serial killer that is named '21'. He was given the name due to him killing his victims on their 21st birthdays. His victims are also always twins. Now in the story it says that the authorities have already arrested and charged a man for being the serial killer. So this possibly innocent man is in prison for being the '21' serial killer. Brianna Hayward, who also happens to be a twin, believes the man's innocent not only cause he happens to be her cousin, but because she truly believes the culprit is still out there. And fears that he might strike again. So she needs to convince the New Orleans Police that hes innocent. So she ends up talking to Detective Rick Bentz. He as well had doubts about the "21" conviction when he worked the case in L.A. While shes trying to convince Det. Bentz that they put the wrong man in jail reporter Jason 'Jase' Bridges overhears her theory. He's intrigued and wants to help out not only to his benefit but because he also knows Brianna Hayward. But to get close to her he runs the risk of her finding out the secret in Jase's past. So all the while this is going on twin sisters from All Saints College have vanished on the eve of their twenty-first birthday. Can it be that the "21" has struck again meaning the man in prison is innocent or a mere coincidence?

Now you cant tell me that this book is not intriguing. Now of course if any of you have a twin you can easily relate since the book is practically about twins, but not only that. I honestly feel like for those who are twins and read will agree in how far you would go for your twin and what you'd do for them. Because also many of us have siblings and we have a bond with them, but a bond between twins in my opinion is a little more special due to the fact that not only you had to share the womb with them but they're simply you as another human being. I will really enjoyed this book and at times made me wish i had a twin! I truly recommend it and i think you all will enjoy it. I enjoyed it so much that i am going to buy the other books in the (New Orleans) series. But of course don't take my word for it. Go and buy it and read it and let me know what you think?

'Dark Places' By:Gillian Flynn

"Libby Day was seven when her mother and two sisters were murdered in "The Satan Sacrifice of Kinnakee, Kansas." She survived -- and famously testified that her fifteen-year old brother, Ben, was the killer."

Gillian Flynn is a well known author due to her novel 'Gone Girl'. Which later was turned into a movie and had actors such as Ben Affleck, Rosamund Pike, Neil Patrick Harris, and Tyler Perry. Although Gone Girl was a great novel and movie it isn't the only book that Mrs. Flynn should be known by. I'm talking about her other novel 'Dark Places.' I have to say that this novel was hands down one of the best books I've ever read. I literally couldn't put the book down. She would have me on the edge of my seat wanting to know who the killer was and what really happened.

The book starts off with Libby Day twenty four years later after the slaughter of her mother and two sisters a gruesome crime caused by her very own brother. Now at age thirty Libby has been living off a lump some of money she inherited from people donating to a fund just for her. Now that she's an adult her funds are running dry and she has no other way of financially supporting herself. Until she ends up getting a letter that her banker Jimmy Jeffery's gave her. In the letter written by Lyle Wirth he stated that he'll pay her five hundred dollars to show up at a kill club convention. Libby agrees to it only cause she's desperately in need for money, but when she shows up she starts getting backlash from people that believe her brother is innocent. She gets upset feeling ambushed and disrespected, but eventually Lyle as well as other members of group convinced her to dig deep and find out the truth. She's at first skeptical but the more she digs for the truth she starts to realize that maybe just maybe she sent her own brother to jail when all along he was innocent and that the real killer might still be out there.

Now the book has a lot of twists and turns and a great ending. I honestly believe that who ever reads this book will be satisfied and will agree that Gillian Flynn has written yet again a great novel. Now from a rating of 1-5 stars I'd give this book a 5! But you don't have to take my word for it. Read it yourself and let me know what you think? All I can say is I'm eager to read her next novel 'Sharp Objects.'

Intro!

Hello to everyone who crosses by my blog. My name is Shary and I'm a book worm. This first post is suppose to be the intro of my blog. Its really hard to know what to write or how to start off a post when this is your first time doing a blog. So bear with me if I suck at it a little. Well basically my blog page will be about books I own and have read. Which is why I named the blog "My Books". Now the type of books I really like are thriller/suspense/horror books. I just completely love those genres. It keeps you on your toes at all time. Eager in wanting to read more and more to get to the end. Many will tease me by saying I'm going to become a serial killer since those are practically all the books I read. Now I'm 5'1 weigh 105 lbs. So I seriously doubt it. Then again there have been younger and weaker killers out there. I'm joking. Although I do get teased ill continue to buy these types of books. Now from time to time I might buy and read other genres but for the most part it will be the genres I mentioned above. So if you're a fanatic of thriller/suspense/horror books then you'll find reviews on books I've read and recommendations. Ill try not to put in any spoilers and if I do then ill announce it on the post title. So I hope I didn't do a crappy job on my first post and ill talk to you guys soon. Farewell.
